The stay in Canada continued as she gave birth to her third daughter, Princess Margriet. During this time, Princess Juliana had an allowance to hold Dutch nationality. Ottawa was the city that witnessed how Princess Juliana impacted Ottawa until she finally could return to the Netherlands in 1945.

Regarding her return to the Netherlands after a long period of staying in Ottawa, Canada, Princess Juliana wanted to thank Ottawa along with its people for accepting her. Later, she gifted Canadian people with many things, including 100.000 tulip flowers.

One of the iconic momentums in Canada where the Princess gifted tulip flower that its amount was quite many later inspired “Tulip Legacy”. It marks a strong relationship between Canada and the Dutch royal family that consistently sent tulip bulbs to Canada’s capital every year.
