Christmas celebrations are coming soon. Various preparations have been prepared in the last few weeks. One of the things that you can find is a Christmas dish. It seems to be an important element in celebrating Christmas.

3. Germany: Christstollen

4. Italy: Panettone

7. Poland: Makowiec

Poland also has a typical Christmas cake which is no less interesting than other countries’ Christmas cakes.

Makowiec is a sweet dish that always adorns Christmas celebrations in the country that borders Germany. These rolls are made of yeast dough filled with poppy seed jam.

8. Portugal: Bolo Rei

Many people assume that the shape of this cake resembles a crown. The sprinkling of fruit that surrounds the cake is likened to ornaments that adorn the ‘crown’.

Bolo Rei is a traditional Christmas cake that is usually served during Christmas celebrations in Portugal. This cake will always decorate the dining table of people’s homes in Portugal until January 6th which is commemorated as the celebration of Epiphany.

9. Spain and Mexico: Rosca de Reyes

This cake is also known in France, but specifically, in Spain and Mexico, Rosca de Reyes is served as a traditional Christmas cake.

Having a round shape like a ring, this cake is often said to be similar to Bolo Rei from Portugal. As with some other cakes, Rosca de Reyes will be served until January 6th.

10. Rusia – Krendel

Russians usually make Krendel during Christmas, or as gifts when visiting relatives.

The ingredients used are wheat flour, yeast, milk, egg yolk, cinnamon, and butter. Then for the filling, use some mixed dried fruit, such as dried plums, dried pears, dried apricots, one apple, butter, sugar, and additional white wine as a flavor enhancer.

There is also a sweetener topping made from sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and three tablespoons of warm water mixed. 

Krendel has a legit texture, with a solid appearance on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside.

11. China – Almond Cookies

Indeed, this cookie has become a cake that must be present at Christmas celebrations for Chinese people.

As the name implies, almond cookies or cheese biscuits are made from a mixture of flour, margarine, cream cheese, eggs, cornstarch, almond extract, and almonds. 

The shape of the cake is round and flat with a sprinkling of almonds on top which adds to the beautiful appearance.

12. England: Dundee Cake

And lastly, there is Dundee cake, a typical British Christmas cake. Not only popular in England, but this cake with a sprinkling of almonds is also known in several countries such as France, Russia, and Japan. 

Dundee cake has a dominant citrus aroma because it is made from chopped dried fruit and a sprinkling of orange peel, making the taste even more delicious.
