A perfume is a substance that emits and diffuses a fragrant odor, especially a volatile liquid distilled from flowers or prepared synthetically. Fragrance is always considered a pleasant and exciting word to experience. Perfume is a mixture of fragrant oils, aroma compounds, and solvents that are used to give the human body a pleasant smell.

The word perfume that is used today derives from the Latin word "per fumum" and it's meaning is smoke. Perfumery, which is art of making perfumes, began in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt but it was developed and further refined by the Romans and Persians. Although perfume and perfumery also existed in East Asia, much of its fragrances are incense based.
